AMMAN — Investments in youth entrepreneurship and education are powerful means to combat violent extremism, US Ambassador to Jordan Alice G. Wells said Sunday.
“We’ve seen how violent extremists are exploiting and tapping into the frustration of our youth,” Wells said at a session on US-Jordanian partnership, highlighting job creation as key to shared prosperity and security.
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty held a two day workshop under the title “The Role of Political Parties in Jordan’s local Economic Reform Process” as part of the foundation project with political parties, which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and aims at supporting the reform process in Jordan. The workshop took place in Karak on August 23, and in Irbid in September 6. It targeted the political parties’ members in north and in south of Jordan.
